AirPods lovers,Online Selling (2025) rejoice. United's new Boeing 737 Max 8 planes let passengers connect wireless Bluetooth headphones to the in-flight entertainment.
The planes should start flying this summer. The upgrade comes as part of the company's "United Next" plan, which seeks to modernize the United fleet with larger, more fuel-efficient jets.
Overall, this is a very welcome addition. But there is one potential problem. As The Verge points out, everyone on a plane trying to connect their headphones via Bluetooth at once could cause a bit of interference and make the connecting process a tad annoying. According to The Verge, United doesn't seem to have direct plans to combat this yet, claiming it is still "studying the technology."
That being said, it'll be nice to ditch Bluetooth transmitters and be able to directly connect a pair of AirPods or Beats Studio Buds instead.
