On top of the moving images of closed shops, a rally with business owners and other Yemeni-Americans and supporters drew a big crowd Thursday afternoon. Demonstrators even showed up hours before the event and held a prayer session.

In a news release about the strike and rally, organizers said the store shutdown hopes to show "the vital role these grocers and their families play in New York’s economic and social fabric and, during this period, grocery store owners will spend time with their families and loved ones to support each other; many of these families have been directly affected by the Ban."
The strike is also giving New York neighbors all the feels.
