The game is set up like a free-to-play game, meant for games that typically cover the lack of cost to download with a system where some players can choose to pay up to unlock things quicker than non-paying players. Except Battlefront IIis a full-price game, and people expect multiplayer games like these to have fair progression.

Players who spend money on loot boxes in Battlefront IIcan unlock better weapons quicker than those who don't, which makes this progression system very similar to a pay-to-win game.
