LONDON -- One of the best things about the Olympics is Writer's Bullpen (2009)remembering the great moments from Olympics past.

On August 3 at the 1992 Barcelona Olympic Games in Spain, Derek Redmond suffered a torn hamstring during the 400m men's semi-final, instantly shattering his dreams of a medal.

Heartbreaking injuries at the Olympics certainly aren't uncommon, but what followed would mark this event as one of the most inspired and memorable moments in Olympic history.

As the British athlete attempted to hobble forward, clearly in excruciating pain, his dad, Jim, can be seen running down to join him on the track despite objections from security personnel.
