The invite showcases a range of photos, some understandably taken in low lighting conditions. This likely suggests the capability of the camera on Google's upcoming smartphones. The last year's Nexus smartphones were lauded for their cameras, we can't wait to see what kind of improvements Google has in store for this year's phones.
Google already offers a Chromebook and a tablet under ‘Pixel’ branding, so the move is likely to categorize all of its hardware efforts under one familiar name. For you, the customers, it still means that new flagship smartphones are coming. A 7-inch tablet, made by Huawei is also expected to be announced at the event.
It is expected that upcoming smartphones will be named the Pixel and Pixel XL. HTC is reportedly making both the new smartphones for Google this year. Last year, Google had partnered with Huawei and LG for the Nexus 6P and Nexus 5X smartphones.
Google could also utilize the event to launch a new Chromecast dongle, with perhaps 4K capability. Redbone’s music may also be Google's way to hint that an update on Google Home should be expected. The company introduced its Amazon Echo-rival Google Home at I/O earlier this year, but it is yet to announce the public availability of the device.
