The Roy family power struggle is getting uglier. For those who want to bear witness, Season 4 of the chaotic dramedy Successionis officially here. Things kicked off on March 26 with what Mashable's Shannon Connellan dubbed "one furiously tense first episode." And if the trailer is anything to go by, the family drama is building up to boil over into one last violent showdown. You don't want to miss it.
The final chapter of Jesse Armstrong's Emmy-winning drama is one of the most anticipated TV events of 2023. Mashable entertainment reporter Belen Edwards said, "It's as unsparing and sharp as its predecessors, yet somehow manages to up the show's audacity to new heights."
Whether you've been following the Roys through every season or you're just jumping into their family drama, here's everything you need to know to watch Succession Season 4 online — and where you can stream previous episodes.
Though there are plenty of hits on Netflix, Hulu, and Showtime, Succession is an HBO Original. That means it's only available to watch on HBO or its streaming counterpart, HBO Max. Of course, there are plenty of ways to subscribe to the streamer, including adding it on to an existing subscription (more on that below).
The good news is you can score HBO Max for free if you're an Amazon Prime member. The bad news is it's only free for a week — then you'll be charged full price, which is $15.99 per month.
While it's not automatically included, if you're a Hulu subscriber, you can add HBO Max to your account for $14.99 per month. Unfortunately, there's no free trial offered at the time of writing, but you can easily cancel your subscription when the Successionseason ends (May 14). Plus, a typical ad-free HBO Max account usually costs $15.99, so you'll save $1 per month if you opt for the Hulu add-on instead of the Prime Video add-on.
That's the million dollar question, isn't it? HBO remains a premium service, which means unless it's running a promotion, getting it for free is no easy feat. There are a couple ways you can secure a free trial of the service at the time of writing, but you'll have to plan strategically around the season finale on May 14 to avoid paying the monthly fee. Here are a few different ways you can get HBO for free.
Wait until May 14 to sign up for the HBO Max add-on via Amazon Prime. With your seven-day trial, you can binge-watch the entire season (10 episodes) for free. Just be sure to cancel before the week's up or you'll be charged $15.99.
Are you an AT&T customer? Eligible unlimited plans can get HBO Max for no extra charge. Just download the HBO Max app and sign in through your TV or mobile provider. New customers can also sign up for one of the eligible plans above to stream Successionon HBO Max free.
While it may not be free, you can also sign up for a HBO Max subscription through HBO itself. The most affordable option (and the best bang for your buck) is to watch with ads or and sign up for an annual subscription rather than monthly. This will save you 16% and you won't have to worry about monthly fees for an entire year. Plus, you can watch all the other exclusive originals on HBO once you finish all four seasons of Succession.
