After months of anticipation,Bayo (2025) Nintendo is finally ready to reveal its next gaming system, Nintendo NX, which will make its debut on Thursday, Oct. 20.
This first look will come in the form of a preview trailer. Nintendo is framing it as a "preliminary announcement of information regarding the platform," so don't expect to have all your questions answered.
SEE ALSO: This 'Super Mario'-themed Airbnb is every Nintendo nerd's dreamVery little is known of NX at this point. A shareholder's meeting in April brought confirmation that the hardware would be out in 2017 -- along with the new Zelda game -- and that it is not meant to replace the company's existing 3DS and Wii U hardware.
That final point is the most noteworthy detail revealed to date. A rumor -- attributed to multiple sources "familiar with the development plans" -- surfaced in October 2015 that suggested NX would be some manner of hybrid console/handheld device. Subsequent rumors have supported that original claim, though of course Nintendo has yet to confirm anything.
That all changes tomorrow. Stay tuned for your first look at Nintendo NX -- assuming it keeps that name -- when the trailer drops at 10 a.m ET.
