The Too Naughty to Say No (1985) - RemasteredStar Wars Battlefront IIbeta kicked off this weekend and players discovered a problem: the loot box system is horrible.
Loot boxes in Battlefront IIare how players obtain new abilities and crafting materials to make and improve weapons, although it takes hours of playing to get a single loot box and the items inside are completely random. Of course, if you want to speed up the process to get better stuff, you can always spend real money on loot boxes.
SEE ALSO: John Boyega is here to teach you how to play 'Star Wars: Battlefront II'YouTuber AngryJoe posted a video outlining how terrible this progression system is, doing some math to show how long it might take to unlock every gun in the game, as long as there are three weapons per class in the shipped game (two more than in the beta).
According to AngryJoe's math, it would take a single player about 3,600 hours of playing to unlock every gun in the game.
That's ridiculous.
The game is set up like a free-to-play game, meant for games that typically cover the lack of cost to download with a system where some players can choose to pay up to unlock things quicker than non-paying players. Except Battlefront IIis a full-price game, and people expect multiplayer games like these to have fair progression.

The idea of "paying to win" in multiplayer video games has long been an idea despised by players who want the playing field to be even to everyone playing. Players who spend money on loot boxes in Battlefront IIcan unlock better weapons quicker than those who don't, which makes this progression system very similar to a pay-to-win game.

The game is still in beta so the system may change by the time Battlefront IIcomes out in November. We can all hope.
