Apple's new $159 wireless AirPod earbuds attracted instant backlash after their announcement with the iPhone 7 and Request Movies7 Plus and Apple Watch Series 2 at the company's big fall event on Wednesday.
Even though the wireless earbuds come with a carrying/charging case, the chances of losing one of them is high -- same as with any cable-free wireless earbuds.
But there is good news! Apple has confirmed to Mashableit will sell individual replacements "through normal service channels."
How much will individual replacement AirPod earbuds cost? We've asked Apple for pricing and will update this story when we get a response.
But going off the total AirPods price, which includes two earbuds, the charging case and a Lightning cable, we hope each one is no more than $55 per earbud ($110 for a pair of earbuds + $30 for the case + $20 for the Lightning cable = $160 total).
Mashable Tech Editor Pete Pachal got to try the new AirPods at Apple's event and was split on whether they're genius or a complete disaster:
But between the tired EarPod design and the need to charge yet another gadget, they appear destined to inspire user frustration, not to mention self-consciousness. It's hard to see the AirPods becoming as ubiquitous as the distinctive white earbuds that preceded them over a decade ago.
And they look kinda like a Bluetooth headset in your ear, which is definitely a sign you're a tech douchebag.
