If you're on Request Moviesthe lookout for a new phone with a removable battery, Samsung has what may be the perfect phone for you. But there's a catch.
On January 3, the company launched the Galaxy XCover Pro. Announced just ahead of the consumer-tech filled CES 2020, Samsung's new phone follows its 2017 predecessor, the XCover 4. The phone gets a 4,050 mAh, removable battery that supports 15W fast charging — the company's latest of its kind.
The downside? It's (for now) only available in Finland.
Still, there's a lot to like. The new phone's rugged, durable design gets an upgrade, too. Its 6.3-inch, 20:9 LCD display feels modern and sleek compared to the XCover 4's 5-inch screen. And its two rear cameras — a 25 megapixel wide-angle lens and 8 megapixel ultra-wide sensor — is a generous step-up from the XCover 4's single, 13 megapixel rear camera.
Like its predecessor, the XCover Pro boasts a military certification for durability. Its military-grade anatomy means that the phone is shockproof can and withstand intense solar radiation, extreme temperatures, and harsh weather conditions. Look no further if you're trying to replace your mom's indestructible Nokia phone.
But the new phone is not just waterproof and weatherproof; it's also sensitive to touch in those conditions. The WetTouch and Glove Mode features supposedly make the phone easy to operate in cold and humid conditions.
All XCover Pros come with an octa-core Exynos 9611 chipset, 4 GB RAM, 64 GB of internal storage — the latter of which can be expanded upon with a microSD card.
Samsung did not immediately respond to Mashable's inquiry about whether it has plans to introduce the phone to the U.S. For the time being, Finland — home of Nokia phones — might just be able to call itself something of a world capital for rugged, durable phones.
