The the problem of eroticizing sexual abuse in mediaGame of ThronesSeason 7 finale left us with a few certainties: The Wall has been broken, allowing the Night King and his undead army into Westeros; Jon Snow is actually Aegon Targaryen, rightful heir to Westeros; and Sansa and Arya are Westeros' most badass team, united against anyone that means to do their family harm.

But the finale, titled "The Dragon and the Wolf," also left us with plenty of questions, thanks to a number of ambiguous scenes that only hinted at our characters' motives: Why was Tyrion lurking outside Daenerys' door after Jon went in to consummate his relationship with his secret aunt? Is he jealous of Jon because he's secretly been longing for Dany all this time? What did he say to Cersei to get her to agree (however disingenuously) to a truce? Could he have betrayed Dany and cemented a new alliance with his sister?

Luckily, Mashable had a chance to grill the director of the Season 7 premiere and finale, Jeremy Podeswa, about all these lingering queries, and, shocker, it turns out that we maaaaay be overthinking things. (Kind of a relief, honestly.)

First up -- the question that's been plaguing all of us since Sunday night: Why did Tyrion look so worried when he saw Jon going into Dany's room?

Podeswa offered his perspective on Tyrion's reaction, which he said mostlycame from a place of political concern:

"That moment, for me, was... really about Tyrion having witnessed what he witnessed this year, having a great deal of concern about what the consequences of this might be in the future," he said. "There was a previous understanding of what the alliance between all these parties was about, and now that’s complicated by the fact that there’s a more intimate relationship we see [between] two of the key players in this alliance, one of whom is the person he’s really devoted his life to at this point: Daenerys."

While Podeswa doesn't believe that Tyrion is in love with Dany the way poor, friendzoned Ser Jorah is -- "for Tyrion it’s a combination of admiration and respect and love in a certain way, but it’s different with him... I think it’s more intellectual, and more philosophical, his connection to her," he said -- the director pointed out that Tyrion still might feel insecure about his role in Dany's life if Jon becomes a romantic partner instead of just an ally.

"Now Jon will more than likely have a larger role to play, and what kind of choices is Daenerys going to make now that she has changed the dynamic between her and Jon?" Podeswa mused. "Is she now going to make choices based on the fact that she has an intimate relationship with him, or is she still going to be as pragmatic and strong as she would otherwise be? All that is a question now, and as her chief strategist – as her Hand – not being able to see what the future holds is a worry."

Daenerys questioned Tyrion's loyalty multiple times over the course of Season 7, accusing him of sabotaging her plans in favor of helping his siblings, but despite fans theorizing that Tyrion might've betrayed Dany and realigned with Cersei after their private conversation in King's Landing, Podeswa insisted that the Mother of Dragons still has the Imp in her corner... for now.

"One never knows, with this show, how it’s going to unfold," he laughed. "But I feel like at this moment in the story, he’s devoted to her, and his goals are her goals. But I think the more that she acts independently, the less of a role he has to play in shaping all those things, and so where that ends up going in the future, only Dan [Weiss] and David [Benioff] know. It could go either way, I would say."

That's almost as ominous as the look on Tyrion's face that started this whole darn spiral!

With only six episodes left in the entire series, one thing is for certain: Nobody's safe, and that means we have a lot more theorizing ahead of us before Season 8 premieres.
